A nice example of a standard organic transformation using flow conditions. Optimization of the solvent to prevent blockage in the reactor and conditions to use a single step rather than a two-step procedure or the development work previously worked out at Genzyme — working together they were able to optimize a flow and electrolytic hydrogenation (note: also overcoming the need to be in a specialized hydrogen lab facility) to complete the reduction.
